DUB FX
ONE MAN ELECTRONIC BAND
- Jacqueline Dubin
It’s the bass, beats, tempo, and tone that often prick our ears to musical talent. Such was the case with street performer Benjamin Stanford when he went solo and hit the streets of Europe. The large crowds weren’t all about his magical sounds, but also the unique and captivating way in which he produced them. Originally from St. Kilda, Australia, Stanford performs by the name Dub FX. His talent shows in his performance of live looping and effect pedals combined with his voice. His Reggae, Hip-Hop, and Drum and Bass tunes have successfully brought him from the streets to our ears in his latest 2010 EP Dub FX and Sirius- A Crossworlds. Though his signature beatbox is not found on this album, his heavy Dubstep sub frequencies and focus on tempo gives a fantastic listen. Even more, Dub FX fills his sounds with meaningful words that capture issues of today’s world and social importance. Because of his unique style of production, every song is really in its own category of musical greatness. His sounds are so new and fresh that they make huge musical footprints in the Electronic music world. Look for him next at the Evolve Festival July 23rd, and Shambhala Music Festival August 5th. When will Dub FX be bringing his music experience here to the U.S.? We can
only hope soon!!
