The carriers of the torch for the Los Angeles Electro scene are undoubtedly the Dim Mak Records crew.  Steve Aoki and his staff for years have been releasing cutting edge artists and exciting the nightlife with legendary parties like Sunday Banana Splits with DJ AM, earning them a die hard following in the city of lost angels.  Tuesday night has been a staple for them for years at Cinespace in the club heavy Hollywood Blvd. and Cahuenga area of Hollywood.  Upon entering the venue at 11:30pm the half capacity crowd (the roughly 300 body capacity front room was open for the night, the back room was closed) was lively with most folks choosing to cram shoulder to shoulder on the dance floor rather than look cool by the bar with  adequate elbow room.  I took this as a sign of good things to come.  DJ's Dan Oh, Them Jeans, and Winner Louise bounced from Dance party anthems to harder edged Electro throughout the night and stopped to drop the occasional Christmas song Baltimore Club remix here and there.  By 12:30 the place was packed, somehow even finding a way to fit more bodies onto the 25'x25' dancefloor, hands pumping and feet jumping.  If this is the crowd being pulled with a list of relatively unknown DJs, one can only imagine with excitement what a night  featuring Dim Mak label talent would look like.  Guess I have to return next week to find out.
