SHINY TOY GUNS AIM HIGH WITH 80'S COVER Grammy nominated Dance Rock Band Shiny Toy Guns have been grinding hard for years and are finally breaking into the mainstream thanks to their video clip for the single "Ghost Town".  Most bands would start lowering their standards with the golden ring dangling in front of them, but the Guns are shooting straight at their core audience with the release of "Major Tom".  The track, being offered as a free download on their website www.shinytoyguns.com, is not actually a Bowie tune but a remake of the 1983 Peter Shilling tune based on the character made famous in the Thin White Duke's classics "Space Oddity" and "Ashes To Ashes".  The song is unabashedly retro with an 80's new wave sound that, with current trends, sounds fresh and new due to it's authenticity.  When everyone else is trying to sound old school this song just simply does.
